Celebrating faculty members who have successfully completed the Faculty Certificate in Teaching and Learning program.
The Faculty Certificate in Teaching and Learning (FCTL) is a comprehensive professional development program designed to strengthen the pedagogical skills, instructional effectiveness, and reflective teaching practices of university faculty. The program follows a structured, multi-phase approach that ensures both theoretical understanding and practical application.
The journey begins with the Instructional Skills Development (ISD) training, conducted in collaboration with the LUMS Learning Institute. This foundational phase equips faculty with essential teaching competencies, including lesson planning, student engagement strategies, assessment techniques, and effective classroom communication.
Following ISD, participants engage in the Teaching Square, a collaborative and reflective practice where faculty members observe each other's classes, share feedback, and learn through peer interaction. This phase promotes a culture of continuous improvement and collegial learning.
The final phase focuses on Course Design and Delivery (CDD), where faculty apply their learning to design well-structured courses aligned with learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and innovative teaching methodologies. This stage emphasizes constructive alignment and student-centered learning.
Upon successful completion of all phases—ISD, Teaching Square, and CDD—faculty are awarded the Faculty Certificate in Teaching and Learning (FCTL). This certification recognizes their commitment to excellence in teaching, continuous professional growth, and the adoption of effective, evidence-based instructional practices.
